Environmental Permitting
We represent many clients in successful examples of environmental permitting in Alaska and Washington, DC.
These include permits under the Clean Water Act such as Section 404 wetlands permits, the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and mining and timber sale permits. We represent our clients before state and federal agencies to obtain these permits and state and federal courts in the defense of these permits when challenged by third parties.
Examples of these permits include:
- A Clean Water Act permit which was successfully defended before all federal courts including the U.S. Supreme Court
- A challenge to state mining permits successfully defended before all state permits including the State Supreme Court
- A series of permits to authorize the construction of road and hovercraft landing area in a remote area of the Aleutian Islands
- Multiple permits issued by the U.S. Forest Service to authorize timber harvest in National Forests.
Our members in Washington, D.C./Arlington, VA represent many natural resource companies before Congress, state legislatures, and federal and state agencies on laws and regulations affecting environmental permitting such as the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Mining Law of 1872, and the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920.
